Sound of 5 prioritizes the use of music to facilitate the reinforcement and enrichment of classroom subject matters. Enabling students to make the connection between music and history provides a highly educational and interactive experience that allows students to think critically.
Around the World With passport in hand, Sound of 5 takes you on an exhilarating journey around the world! Experience how music affects the traditions and cultures of five different countries through song, dance, and folklore. Pack your bags and get ready to learn the magic of rhythm, melody, and harmony as Sound of 5 takes you to Africa, Asia, Europe and beyond! Objective: To use musical tools and fundamentals to teach students to analyze and describe music and to leave students with the skills to critically think, “How does music affect me or tell my story? What cultural traditions do I have that are linked to or expressed in music?” California History Join Sound of 5 as they travel through California’s state history. This journey takes travelers to five different time periods and places including meeting Native Americans, the Gold Rush, and Hollywood. Each destination includes an interactive, in-depth look at what was happening in history at the time and the role music played in the lives of the people. Objectives: To reinforce state history standards, provide students with an understanding of musical practice coinciding with different historical movements, and teach students the basics of the woodwind quintet, such as sound production, instrument family, and the role of the instrument in an orchestra.
